October 21 / The will of God today

"This decision requires continued acceptance, ever-increasing faith, and a daily commitment to recovery."
Pamphlet No. 14, The Experience of a Drug Addict…

Sometimes we live by Step Three – and it's great! We don't regret the past, we don't fear the future and we are generally satisfied with the present. Sometimes, however, we lose the sense of God's will in our lives.

Many of us would like to erase the mistakes of the past, but the past does not change. Many of us are grateful for this because the experiences we had in the past are what brought us to the recovery we enjoy today. When we work the program, we learn to accept the past and make peace with it by making amends for our mistakes. These Twelve Steps can help us stop worrying about the future. When we apply the principles of NA daily in all our affairs, we can leave the results in the hands of our Higher Power.

It seems that members who have deep faith are able to live in the present more easily. We give thanks, appreciate and are grateful for the quality we have in our lives today – we experience the results of our faith in life itself. When we apply the principles of the program, all we need is to live in the present.

Just for today

I will make the most of today and trust that yesterday and tomorrow are in God's care.
